LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) -- The right lane of eastbound Interstate 90 near Lewiston has reopened after crews spent more than eight hours trying to move boxes of food off the interstate after a semitrailer tipped early Friday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the driver was westbound on Interstate 90 when he drove into the median and flipped into the eastbound ditch about 12:55 a.m. Friday. The driver said the last thing he remembers is hitting the rumble strips before crashing into the ditch.

No one was hurt, but the accident did cause quite a mess and some traffic slow downs

The right lane of eastbound Interstate 90 about 11 miles east of the St. Charles area was cut down to one lane as crews cleaned up the mess, and transported numerous boxes of food to a new semitrailer.

"DOT came out and blocked off a lane for us, and now towing out of Winona is doing the cleanup process, which is loading and unloading the food products that were inside the trailer," said Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Tim Nibbelink.

Nibbelink said the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
