UPDATE: Rochester man killed in crash identified

Posted: Updated:
LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Winona County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a Rochester man killed after his car crashed into a creek Thursday evening near Lewiston.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said Anthony Plevak, 54, of Rochester, lost control on a curve and went off the road, going airborne over the creek before hitting the cement wall of a railroad trestle about 4:30 p.m. on County Road 120 just off of Highway 14.

The car was flattened after landing on its roof in the creek. First responders found the man dead inside the car when they arrived on scene.

Sheriff Brand said the man was not wearing a seat belt and speed may have been a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
