Highway 52 bridge work at 55th Street NW scheduled for Friday night

Posted:

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Thursday's rain postponed a detour on Highway 52 at 55th Street Northwest to Friday night.

Road work will close 55th Street Northwest at Highway 52 at 8 p.m. on Friday. MnDOT said crews will be setting beams on the bridge over Highway 52. No traffic will be allowed to cross the bridge or turn onto the highway. At 9 p.m. Friday, Highway 52 at 55th Street Northwest will close in both directions as part of an effort to widen 55th Street, which started in April.

Traffic on 55th Street will be re-routed to 41st Street and the east and west Frontage roads. The Highway 52 detour should take drivers up and down the 55th Street ramps.

The closures are expected to end by 6 a.m. Saturday.

Crews will open the roadway as soon as they are able to do so. The $4.7 million project is all about improving traffic flow on 55th Street and the Highway 52 ramps.

Work should be completed this fall.
