Transformer explodes causing power outage in NW Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- An electrical transformer blew about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday causing a power outage for about 2,100 Rochester Public Utilities customers in northwest Rochester.

RPU crews rushed to the scene at 18th Avenue NW and 55th St. NW and a community service officer helped direct traffic around the repair crews.  RPU spokesman Tony Benson said the work was done in a little more than an hour and power was restored about 10:45.
