ALDEN, Minn. (KTTC) -- The town of Alden is recovering after it was hit by severe storms early Wednesday morning.

Crews responded to a power outage in Alden just before 3:15 a.m.

Joe Bolinger of the Alden Fire Department said the entire town lost power as a result of two days worth of storms with powerful winds uprooting and splitting trees in half. Winds ripped off the roof of Lakeside Auto on North Broadway and tossed it into the road.

Fallen limbs impacted travel on the main route through town.

"A lot of trees down, big limbs down which took took power lines down," said Bolinger. "We've got 109 which runs through town shut down because of the big power line hanging here and on the road."

Alliant Energy said at the height of outages overnight, 3,800 customers in Freeborn County were without power.

According to Alliant, power has been restored to all but 203 customers in Freeborn County as of 12 p.m. Wednesday.

KTTC Meteorologist Ted Schmidt said the same system responsible for Wednesday morning's storms will remain planted in the region.

"Look for another round of thunderstorms later toward this evening with strong winds and some heavy rainfall possible," said Schmidt. "Severe weather may continue through part of tonight and then redevelop later tomorrow as the same pattern plays out."

Schmidt said the strong storm producing part of the storm system will move east by Friday.
