LEWISTON, Minn. (KTTC) -- An 80-year-old man has survived being trapped for several hours in a grain bin south of Lewiston.

Winona County Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude told NewsCenter's Devin Bartolotta crews rescued John Daley from the bin just after 2 p.m. Thursday. Ganrude said Daley's injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. Lewiston Ambulance transported Daley to a Winona hospital as a precaution.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said Daley was conscious and talking.

Rescuers were called about 11 a.m. to a farm at 25764 County Road 25. Crews tied a rope around Daley to keep him from sinking into the corn which was above his chin. They also cut a hole near the bottom of the bin to pump the corn out.

A neighbor at the scene said Daley went inside the bin while an auger was running and got his foot stuck.

Brand said Daley remained conscious during the rescue.
