Hwy 35 in Onalaska now open following semi vs. bike accident

ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - Onalaska Police are investigating a semi vs. bicyclist accident.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday.  

Police Chief Jeff Trotnic said a man was riding his bike across State Highway 35 when he was hit by a semi traveling on the highway.  Trotnic said the semi driver told police he saw the bicyclist and tried to swerve to avoid him, but it was too late.

Trotnic said the bicyclist was transported to a hospital.  His injuries are unknown.

Both lanes of Highway 35 were closed between Schnick Road and Quincy Street for about two hours as crews investigated the accident.
