TRENDING: Lightning strikes moving pickup truck

Posted:
ALBERTA, Canada (KTTC/CTV) -- Lightning struck a couple's pickup truck while they were driving on a highway in Alberta, Canada.

Surveillance cameras captured the strike on camera Saturday. Canada's CTV reported airbags deployed inside the truck and the metal body was rippled by heat and smoke began to fill the vehicle.

Al Perry, who was with his wife Betty, told CTV the lightning strike sounded like a "sonic boom."

A police officer was nearby and helped the couple get out of the truck safely.
