Report: Rochester police seized more than $55,000 in 2013

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The Rochester Police Department made more than $55,000 in 2013 on forfeited vehicles they sold, according to a report released by the Minnesota State Auditor.

The Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force made $112,020 on 169 seizures. The task force's 169 seizures was the sixth highest among Minnesota law enforcement agencies that reported criminal forfeitures in 2013.

The Minnesota State Patrol topped the report with 1,007 forfeiture cases that netted more than $1 million.

The money is divided between law enforcement, prosecutors and the state treasury. Most of the seized property was related to drug dealing and other controlled substance crimes.
