WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican committee that helps elect senators raised more than $6 million in April.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee has almost $22 million in the bank. The committee released a fundraising summary Friday showing it has raised close to $60 million for this election cycle. The committee reports carrying no debt.
The Democratic senatorial committee is expected to release its totals next week. The group ended March with about $22 million in the bank and no debt to help defend the Democratic majority in the Senate.
Republicans need to pick up six seats to win the majority.
The parties' major campaign committees have until Tuesday to report their April fundraising tallies.
