Students sell recycled art to fund new playground

Posted:
LA CRESCENT, Minn. (WXOW)—La Crescent Montessori hosts its 3rd annual environment fair.

The event featured up-cycled artwork for sale which was created by student and local artists, live music, and a silent auction.

All the art was created while remaining environmentally conscience.

The students are currently studying plants and their life cycles. Their vegetables grown were also sold at the event.

All of the proceeds from the art fair go towards building a natural playground.

This consists of recycled materials and incorporates the natural landscape.

Teacher Melissa Johnson said, "It's using things in nature to build a natural playscape for the students to climb on rocks, to build with trees, or collect things."
