Albert Lea man arrested after chase

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- An Albert Lea man is accused of having methamphetamine and leading authorities on a chase.

The Freeborn County Sheriff's office said Jonathan William Talamantes, 27, was arrested Wednesday and charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance, fleeing police, and refusing a DUI test.

Dispatchers received a call shortly before 8:40 p.m. Thursday that a drunken driver had driven into someone's yard in north Albert Lea and hit a tree.

Talamantes was eventually located near the Hayward exit on Interstate 90 and heading south on County Road 26 before driving into a ravine.

After crashing, the sheriff's office said Talamantes led deputies on a short foot chase before he was taken into custody.
