Rochester man facing new charges after assault in courtroom

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Rochester man is facing new charges after an assault in a courtroom during his assault trial.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said Armando Rodriguez, 29, was on trial Tuesday in courtroom seven when he attacked a witness.

The witness, a cousin of Rodriguez, was leaving the court room after testifying.

The sheriff's office said Rodriguez got out of his seat and punched his cousin in the face three times.

Rodriguez was on trial for third-degree and domestic assault.

He's now facing a new felony assault charge.
