RAGBRAI route through Mason City announced

MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- The route bringing the oldest, largest, and longest bicycle touring event in the world through Mason City this July has been announced.

RAGBRAI stops in eight host cities over the course of seven days. Mason City will play host July 23, as riders make their way from Forest City.

It's a Wednesday, so naturally, Mason City organizers chose a "hump day" camel as the logo for the city's stretch of the event.

The route will bring riders into the city on 12th Street Northwest, followed by Pierce Avenue, First Street Northwest, Washington Avenue and State Street.

Most riders will then spend the night camping in East Park.

RAGBRAI has been going strong for 42 years.

The last time riders stopped in Mason City was in 1985.
