Anderson drops out of 3rd Congressional race

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Congressional Candidate Chris Anderson is withdrawing from the 3rd District race.

The 28-year-old said in a statement released to the media Wednesday, “In order to have a viable chance of overturning an entrenched incumbent like Representative Ron Kind it is necessary to take steps to unify the Republican Party behind one candidate.”

Currently there are three candidates competing for the Republican ticket. Anderson said he will fully endorse Tony Kurtz and will help him work towards a victory this November.

Other Republican candidates are Ken Van Doren and Karen Mueller.

Rep. Kind is seeking re-election. The Democrat was first elected to the House in 1996 and was last re-elected in 2012.
