Austin Utilities: Threat of frozen pipes almost gone

AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- After a harsh and long winter, Austin Utilities said Tuesday that the threat of frozen pipes is almost gone.

According to Austin Utilities, residents who are still letting their water run should now be able to stop. Residents are encouraged to make sure the water temperature is at least 40 degrees before turning their water off.

Austin Utilities had nearly 170 frozen water services reported this winter. City staff measured frost levels at more than six feet deep under paved streets.
