Rochester City Council previews Government Center weapons screening options

Posted: Updated:
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- At Monday's Committee of the Whole meeting, Rochester City Council members got a look at the different plans proposed to add a weapons screening area to the county side of Government Center.

On Tuesday, the Olmsted County Board will have to decide if they want to add weapons screening, and if that answer is 'yes,' they will have to decide where they want to put it.

County staff told the city council on Monday the preferred option will be to add the weapons screening on the second floor and build out space on the upper floors of the Government Center.

This meeting was only informational. City Council members do not get a final say in which plan is chosen, however some of the options could have an impact on the city side of the building.
