McCartney to perform at Target Field

MINNEAPOLIS  (KTTC/AP) -- A major concert announcement at Target Field!

Sir Paul McCartney will perform at the ballpark on Aug. 2.

The Twins made the announcement Monday morning. Tickets for McCartney's "Out There" tour go on sale next Monday at 10 a.m.

The superstar is now playing in Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica. McCartney is set next month to head to the Far East, performing in Japan and Korea.

McCartney will turn 72 this summer. His most recent Twin Cities appearance was in 2005 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The only time the Beatles came to the state was in 1965 at Metropolitan Stadium, then the Twins' home. The team moved to the Metrodome in 1982 and into Target Field in 2010.
