EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Vikings have the energy and enthusiasm of a team with a new coaching staff.
The only results that matter are months away, of course. For now, the Vikings are buzzing about the beginning of coach Mike Zimmer's period of influence.
His predecessor, Leslie Frazier, was popular with the players, too. The praise for the new boss is no slight to the old one. But that's what happens in this league after a 5-10-1 finish. The freshness and optimism that comes from change is welcome.
The Vikings began their offseason workout program at Winter Park last week. Players spoke Tuesday about Zimmer's passion for the job.
