TRENDING: Messy room punishment

FORT STEWART, Ga. (KTTC) -- A lot of parents with a messy teenager have thought about - or even threatened - doing something extreme to capture the kid's attention.

A soldier stationed at Georgia's Fort Stewart decided to follow through with a dramatic, attention-grabbing gesture.

He was fed up telling his daughter, Haley, to clean her bedroom, so everything was moved to the driveway.

A sign informed Haley about her airy and spacious new setup when she came home from school.

He said Haley was upset at first, but the bedroom will be painted on Tuesday to give them both a fresh start.

Nothing is in the way, so the painters should be able to finish the job quickly.
