Man convicted of Joe Geike assault back in court

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- One of two men convicted of assaulting RCTC football player Joe Geike in 2008 was back in court Monday, accused of violating his probation.

23-year-old Howard Risher denied that violation at Monday's preliminary hearing.

Risher has been serving out his 20-year probation in his home state of Texas, but was extradited this week after being served with a warrant.

The terms of the violation are not yet publicly available.

Risher pleaded guilty to the assault of his RCTC football teammate, Joe Geike, in 2010 and served six months in prison.

This is the second time Risher has been accused of violating his probation. The first was back in January of 2013 for failure to pay restitution and remain law abiding, among other things.

Risher will be held in Olmsted County Jail until his next hearing on April 8th.
