ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- After a lengthy search, Rochester Catholic Schools has named two new principals to supervise children at St. John the Evangelist/St. Pius X School and Lourdes High School.
Dr. Joseph O'Toole will be the new principal of Lourdes and Mrs. Erin Widman will be in charge at St. John/St. Pius X. Both have been serving in an interim capacity.
"Both candidates have demonstrated excellent leadership while serving their respective schools this year in the capacity of interim principals," said Michael Brennan, Director of Rochester Catholic Schools, in a statement to reporters. "They've inspired and cultivated a climate of approachability and openness among staff, students, and parents and will provide a sense of continuity and stability. Both candidates have an energy and charisma that reflect their zeal for this vocation evidenced in their capacity for work and positive relationship-building. They possess a vision for our schools and I believe each is truly gifted in their ability to bring others on board. They are team players who understand "system thinking" and have the ability to see the wider landscape of Catholic education and where RCS fits within."
A search had been underway since December for new principals, and the number of applicants was narrowed this past week.
"I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to continue to serve our Lourdes students and families," said new LHS principal Dr. O'Toole. "We have enjoyed a great year with a number of wonderful initiatives launched and underway."
"Being part of the Rochester Catholic Schools community was a big part of my childhood and upbringing, said Mrs. Widman. "I am thrilled and privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding school. I look forward to continuing the mission to provide an exceptional educational experience for the students of Rochester Catholic Schools."
