ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The population of Olmsted County is on the rise.
According estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau, between 2012 and 2013 Olmsted County's population grew by more than 2,000 people.
It's now estimated to be more than 149,000.
Though Destination Medical Center is still in its initial stages, County Board member Jim Bier says he believes part of this growth can be attributed to DMC and we can only expect more.
"Once we get into some more of this growth and some of these things start happening, we're going to see an accelerated growth," Bier said. "I think we're going to get into a high growth period, back where we were in the late '90s and early 2000s."
Olmsted County has the eighth highest population in the state of Minnesota.
