Homeowner looks to family for strength after fire destroys home in Alden

ALDEN, Minn. (KTTC) -- Nine fire departments responded to a house fire in Alden overnight.

It happened just before 10 p.m. at 21751 620th Avenue. According to the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, the homeowners were not home at the time. Crews arrived to find the house engulfed by fire.

Homeowner Bruce Niebuhr said his family was visiting relatives at the time of the fire. He said his family will provide strength during this difficult time.

"We're good," he said. "We got a wonderful background of four kids that are super and nine grandkids that are with us to help us through this."

The Alden Fire Department responded with assistance from the Freeborn, Conger, Wells, Walters, Manchester, Minnesota Lake, Albert Lea Township, and Kiester Fire Departments. Also assisting at the scene was Gold Cross Ambulance.

There's no word yet on a cause or the amount of damage.
