AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- A man from Austin has been arrested after police say threats posted on Facebook escalated into a physical assault Thursday evening in the street at 10th Place and 21st Street NE.

Police Chief Brian Krueger said Joshua Allen, 26, of Austin was being held on possible charges of assault, robbery, theft and careless driving.

"An argument on Facebook started this," said Chief Krueger.  "Then it escalated."

The police chief said Allen used his car to cut off another driver, then got out of his vehicle and pounded on the windows of a car driven by a 21-year-old man.  When the other man got out, Allen allegedly assaulted him and when he was on the ground, started kicking him.

Allen was arrested later at a residence and taken to the Mower County Jail.  Charges from the Mower County Attorney's office are pending.

Chief Krueger said the man who was assaulted was not badly injured.
