LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)  Learning something new can benefit the mind, body and spirit.  So, if you've thought about something new, music for instance, there's no time like the present.

The process could be expensive.  So Angie's List suggests before investing in an instrument, you may want to consider some options first.

Generally speaking, although you can learn at any age, it's a good idea to introduce a child to an instrument at age 5 or 6.  At age 7 or 8, children's hands are bigger and they have more respiratory power.  That might be a good age to begin learning how to play a wind or brass instrument.
