ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Hundreds of families learned about hunting and other outdoor activities at the Kicking Bear Adventure Day in Rochester on Saturday.
The free event featured archery lessons, tug-of-war-contests and sling-shot contests. Kicking Bear is a program that partners with organizations nationwide to provide free camps to teach children all that the wilderness has to offer.
"There's so many influences on the street, now, to take these kids and drag them down the wrong path," said Founder, Raymond Howell. "When you get involved with kicking bear, it's getting involved with all kinds of games and being able to have fun in the outdoors. That's really our focus--to get kids off the street and show them what a real life is."
A world renowned bow hunter, Howell also said he wants kids to realize they too can accomplish their dreams no matter their circumstances.
