ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- SocialICE kicked off Thursday afternoon at Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester.
The event features seven ice bars operated by a downtown business or restaurant. Each bar is 12 feet long and features a signature drink and a theme ranging from Winter Olympics to Jungle Ice.
"The Walk of Ice" returns this year and includes 33 ice sculptures sponsored by different downtown businesses.
SocialICE runs from 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in Peace Plaza. A live DJ is on site from 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Live bands take over each night from 7:30 p.m. - 9:45 p.m.
New this year is an outdoor skating rink in the parking lot of the Creative Salon on 1st Avenue Southwest. The rink is open daily from 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. and will include a warming hut and hot chocolate. Ice skates will be available to borrow, free of charge.
