HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) Top high school athletes around the nation are formally finalizing their college plans.
That includes a pair of football players from Holmen.
Dillon Martinez and Greg Rooney signed their letters of intent Wednesday.
Martinez is headed to division 2 powerhouse University of Minnesota-Duluth where he will play defensive back.
Martinez was a first team All-MVC running back and defensive back.
He was WFCA Honorable Mention All-State as a defensive back.
Rooney is headed to Winona State.
He was a first team All-MVC tight end and linebacker.
Rooney will play tight end for the Warriors.
"Knowing football has a very prominent place in my family, and it's something I've dreamed of my entire life to get a football scholarship and it finally happened," Martinez said during a signing ceremony at the high school.
"I'm really excited. I'm excited to play at the next level to see how fast it is and to see how different it is. Hopefully, I'll adapt very well. That's my goal. I don't know what life would be without football. Without it, it would suck," Rooney said.
