GOP Candidates meet in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- It may only be January, but this is an election year and the local Tea Party is getting the season off to a running start.  The party hosted 6 Republican candidates for Senate in Rochester Thursday.

And as expected, there was a lot of debate on some hot topics in politics.

More than 60-people attended the forum to hear from State Representative Jim Abeler, St. Louis County Commissioner Chris Dahlberg, State Senator Julianne Ortman, activist Phillip Parrish, activist Harold Shudlick and Monti Moreno.  The candidates fielded questions on topics like education, unemployment and Obamacare...

"There's mention that because of what's happened in the past, it's going to be hard to really get rid of Obamacare but we've got to look at and start picking up the pieces and start mitigating the damage that's been done," said Harold Hartman of Rochester.

The 6 GOP candidates are running for Democratic Senator Al Franken's seat in the November.
