Semitrailer accident knocks out power in Winona and Goodview

WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- More than 530 Xcel Energy customers lost power Monday morning after a semitrailer clipped a power pole off Riverview Drive in Winona.

Xcel Energy spokeswoman Patti Nystuen said the outage was reported shortly after 9:10 a.m. and affected customers in Goodview and Winona including Cotter Schools. Crews restored power shortly after 10 a.m.

The semitrailer clipped a power pole off Riverview Drive between Prairie Island Road and Theurer Boulevard shortly after 9 a.m. Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack said the driver from Annandale, Minn., was traveling west on Riverview Drive when the semitrailer went off the road. Bostrack said the driver was feeling ill and was transported to Winona Health.
