AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- An Austin man was arrested for robbing a bank in the city over the weekend.

Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said 48-year-old Scott Allen Olson walked into the Wells Fargo Bank at 501 N. Main St. Saturday afternoon and asked to exchange a $1 bill for a gold coin.

The teller gave him the coin, and that's when police say Olson gave her a note asking for a $100 bill. The teller gave him the money and Olson took off.

He allegedly walked into the Freedom gas station at Oakland Avenue West and Fourth Street and used the bill to buy a pack of cigarettes.

An officer arrested Olson later near Home Federal Savings Bank at 201 W. Oakland Ave.

Olson is being held in the Mower County Jail awaiting charges.
