Top high school volleyball players scrimmage at National Volleyball Center

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Some of the Midwest's best volleyball players from all across the region converged at the National Volleyball Center for the Mizuno M-1 Elite Scrimmage.

44 top girls teams bumped, set and spiked their way through the day long scrimmage.

Minnesota represented 8 of the teams, but others came from as far as Chicago to compete.

The girls were anywhere from 15 to 18 years-old with a vast majority of them already signed to top colleges.

Alyssa Goehner is from Lakeville and plays for the Mizuno Northern Lights.  She was named sophomore and junior outside of the year by Prep Volleyball.  This tournament gives her team a chance to scope out some rare competition.

"It's really to prepare us for harder teams.  It's really hard to find one or more really good teams from your area, so the fact that a bunch can come from different states, or up north, and we can all come together and scrimmage really helps with the competitiveness and the team," says Goehner.

If you missed the action on Saturday, the scrimmage will continue Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM.
