"What? John Wade resigned, what's that all about?", said Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede.

A near 12 year run has come to an end for one of Rochester's loudest voices.

But new challenges lie ahead for Wade.

"I'm honored to have had this opportunity. This organization has been around for nearly 150 years and I certainly hope and as a member of the chamber of the commerce, I want it to remain strong and indeed believe that it's best days are yet to come," said Outgoing President of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce John Wade.

During his tenure the chamber of commerce pioneered workforce 2020 to account for the growth of Rochester over the next several years. Also of note Rochester on tour got started in an effort to showcase the prominence of Rochester and how it affects the entire state. Those there letters, DMC that we are so used to hearing about, he played a big role in that as well, setting the groundwork for the multi-billion dollar DMC initiative.

"Incredibly thrilled that the DMC initiative was advanced through the legislature and I think had that not occurred at the time, which we're thrilled it did I would still be here fighting to make sure it happened," said Wade.

A transition search committee comprised of Chamber Board members will be named soon and will begin an immediate search nationwide for Wades successor.

"Looks like it's a nationwide search and so and he had that advantage I would say of knowing the city," said Brede.

Wade is leaving the Rochester Area Chamber of commerce to become a partner and the General Manager of Clements Chevrolet Cadillac Subaru.

"It's a tough Decision, but it's a great opportunity," said Wade.

Wade's Resignation is effective immediately, but he will remain active through the end of the month.
