LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) – For Christians, Wednesday is the birth of Jesus Christ.
People will be attending church services worldwide to celebrate, like the members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent.
Services Tuesday and Wednesday will feature Christmas songs and scripture readings. The entire sanctuary is decorated for the event.
Pastor Kent Johnson said the meaning of Christmas still applies today.
"The message of Christmas is that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it. And that's such an important message to carry with you in the challenges of life, the times of illness, the times of grief, the times of uncertainty – to know that God is with us," Johnson said.
