LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign wrapped up Tuesday, but the organization is still trying to meet their goal of $650,000.
The Red Kettle Campaign makes up one-third of the Salvation Army's annual budget.
The money helps fund its shelter – the only one that takes in men, women and children in a 100-mile radius – and social service and disaster relief programs.
As of Dec. 22, the campaign stands at $464,191, according to Julie Nelson, public relations and development director for the Salvation Army.
That's 71.4 percent of their goal.
The Salvation Army raised $509,934 by the same time last year.
So they're asking the community to come out for a final campaign push.
The Salvation Army will have one more Match Day from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31.
An anonymous donor will match up to $5,000 that people drop off in-person to the Salvation Army.
To participate, bring cash or a check to 223 N. 8th St., La Crosse.
