Minnesota Judicial Branch warning about fake email

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) -- If you receive an email from the Minnesota Judicial Branch asking you to appear in court, delete it.

The Court Information Office in St. Paul says the email is fake. The email has "Notice to Appear" in the subject line and has the phone number of a local court. It asks the recipient to open an attachment -- a common tactic for scammers attempting to spread a virus.

The Court Information Office says the email did not come from the Minnesota Judicial Branch or the district courts.
