Sparta Police look for robbery suspect


SPARTA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Sparta Police are looking for a man who held up the Family Dollar store late Sunday afternoon.

Police report that a man went to the only cashier working and demanded money.  No weapon was shown, but the man threatened to kill employees if he didn't get money.

The cashier gave the man money.  He then left the store on foot.  

Police describe him as a white male, approximately 25-30 years of age, between 5'6" and 5' 8" tall, having a medium build and weighing about 160 lbs. The suspect had short reddish or blond hair, facial hair, but not a beard, and a prominent mole on the left side of his face near his nose. The suspect was last seen wearing a camouflage military style jacket with an olive drab hood, dark blue jeans, and aviator styled sunglasses.

The robbery remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Sparta Police Department at 608-269-3122, or Monroe County Crime Stoppers at 608-269-STOP.
