La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - Health experts admit, Christmas can be tough for people with Celiac disease. It's an auto-immune disease that requires a gluten free diet.
Gluten is wheat, rye and barley. Items that are popular in some holiday treats.
However, Mayo Clinic Health System's Registered Dietitian Romi Pattison said there are ways to make those favorite goodies gluten free.
"Luckily, there a lot of naturally gluten free deserts," said Pattison. "Some fruit desserts include pears, grilled pineapples or baked apples."
Other delicious gluten free holiday desserts include coconut macaroons, peppermint bark and cookies can be made gluten free.
