Caring Canine carolers visit Rochester Methodist Hospital

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Patients at Rochester Methodist Hospital got the special treatment through the love and loyalty of dogs of the "Caring Canines" program.

Volunteers with Caring Canines sang Christmas carols in the halls of Rochester Methodist while their beloved pets paraded by their side.  Fido and friends were dressed in festive attire to bring some holiday cheer to patients.  Like the Olsen family who welcomed a baby girl to their  family this week.

"With the dogs and everything people really respond to that a lot," said Christopher Olson of Ellendale.  "We come from a farm and it's just nice to see animals in a setting that you don't normally see. I think it's a very good cause."

More than a dozen dogs and their handlers participated in the event.  Caring Canines is an activities program organized by Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services.
