DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Duluth police say a mother who claimed she and her 2-year-old son were stranded at Walmart robbed a woman who gave them a ride.
Authorities say the 77-year-old driver told investigators she felt bad that the young child was out in the cold, so she agreed to give them a lift to West Duluth last Saturday. When they arrived, police say the 19-year-old mother pulled the driver from the car, pushed her to the ground and took off with the woman's vehicle, purse and other possessions.
WDIO-TV says the suspect and stolen vehicle, with the toddler inside, were found a short time later. The teenage mother is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on possible charges that include child endangerment.
