Mower County Board to decide fate on new Pleasant Valley Wind Farm

AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Mower County Board got its first look at the environmental assessment of the power lines and sub station projected to be installed.

The wind farm is set to go in along 320th Street between 650th Avenue and 660th Avenue.

Residents in the area were concerned about the environmental impact and voiced their issues to the board.  Tuesday's document is round three in a long list of stages until its completion.

"We had the scoping document, initially, which had all the concerns listed and who brought those concerns forward, and now this document is supposed to address each and every one of those, which as you heard today they did do.  So, we will review the document that they gave us today to make sure that each and every concern was addressed," says Mower County Board member Polly Glynn.

For some residents those troubles centered around potential river problems and tree removal, while others had issues with the impact of high power lines on their health and well-being.

If the board approves the transmission routes and substation, construction will begin about two years from now.
