ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A man is man is behind bars Monday and police say more arrests are possible after an assault that sent that a man and a woman to the hospital.
Rochester police say the incident happened outside The Loop in downtown Rochester early Sunday morning.
Police say 30-year-old Sythol Phetsomphou of St. Charles was arrested after he and some friends allegedly jumped a 32-year-old man, also from St. Charles.
According to police, the victim entered The Loop at about 1:00 a.m. Sunday, and bumped into Phetsomphou's arm. The two exchanged words, and then the 32-year-old head butted Phetsomphou.
Police tell us that Phetsomphou head butted him back and then hit him in the head with a beer bottle.
The bar's security was alerted and escorted the men outside, and that's when police say Phetsomphou and several of his friends jumped the victim.
The victim's girlfriend tried to stop them, and was hit in the face. The couple was transported to the hospital.
Police say the victim suffered a broken hand, and lacerations behind his ear. His girlfriend had facial injuries, as well as two damaged front teeth.
This is an ongoing investigation, police say, and more people may be arrested.
