RPS Sup. Muñoz delivers 'State of the District' update

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- We're nearing the end of National Education Week and you might be wondering just how far Rochester Public Schools have come since last year.

RPS Superintendent Michael Muñoz delivered a 'State of the District' address Thursday, and acknowledged that while progress has been made, there are still large achievement gaps in Rochester public schools.

He said there are efforts being made to help close those gaps, and in Thursday's address, he outlined strategies and goals for the district.

Muñoz also took the opportunity to highlight the schools progress on national test scores.

He said that, overall, Rochester Public schools are ranked 7th in the state for ACT composite scores.

This means most students are considered ready for college and taking the next step in their education.
