ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Christmas has come early for gamers in southeastern Minnesota, as a new Playstation game has hit the shelf, for the first time in over seven years.
And if the line of people waiting outside several stores selling the game in Rochester Thursday was any indication, the new game is shaping up to be a best-seller.
Residents began lining up for the new Playstation 4 release locally as early as 3 p.m. Thursday.
Some stores didn't have customers sitting in line for very long, as customers picked up tickets earlier in the day, which an employee then used to verify their spot in line. When the doors finally opened at midnight, one-by-one, they walked away with their prize, eager to try out for the console's new features.
So why is the Playstation 4 such a big deal for gamers?
It's the first time in over seven years a new Playstation or Xbox console have hit stores. The next big one -- Microsoft's Xbox one is due out November 22-- just in time for the holidays. Both Xbox and PS-4 are offering exclusive game titles in hopes of luring customers.
As for the price tags? The Playstation 4 will cost you about $399-dollars, while officials say the X-box will run about $100 dollars more.
