SANDSTONE, Minn. (AP) -- Sheriff's officials say a homeowner has shot and killed an armed intruder in Pine County.
Authorities say two men in their 20s entered the man's house near Sandstone about 2:30 a.m. Thursday with the apparent intent to rob him. Chief Deputy Steven Blackwell says one of the intruders was armed with a handgun.
Blackwell says the homeowner was able to grab his handgun and shot the armed suspect, who died at the scene. The second suspect fled.
Deputies and investigators searched the area for the second suspect with the help from a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and infrared equipment. The suspect is still at large.
Blackwell says the homeowner, in his 60s or 70s, was not injured.
