Rochester middle school placed on lockdown Monday

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Authorities say a Rochester middle school was put on lockdown Monday during the arrest of an unruly student.

According to Rochester police, a 12-year-old girl became unruly and violent about 7:45 a.m. Monday at Kellogg Middle School.

Police say the girl assaulted a school staff member. When the school liason officer responded, the girl spit at and kicked the officer.

Two other patrol officers were called in to help.

The girl was taken to the Olmsted County Juvenile Detention Center where officials say she is facing charges of 4th and 5th degree assault and terroristic threats.
