ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The City Council approved the expansion of Residential Permit Parking in the 600 block of First Street and lifted the current parking restrictions in the area.
Residents on that block have been temporarily displaced of parking spots, since a developer began construction of a new apartment complex in their previous parking lot.
With construction and loading zones on Center Street and 6th Avenue, many residents could not find parking within three blocks of their buildings.
Those hurdles will now be removed, opening up spaces for residential permit parking.
Before, many Mayo Clinic employees used to park in that area, the new approval makes the spaces only available to those who have purchased residential permits.
