Winona Brass Band begins rehearsing for 20th anniversary

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Winona Brass Band gathered Monday night to rehearse for their concert this November.  The style of music may not sound familiar, but it will surely leave an impression.

The hums and notes bellowing from the Winona Senior High School band room is not from a group of students, but a band of nearly thirty individuals who simply love British Brass Music.

The members of the band come from all around the southeastern Minnesota and Wisconsin region, but they join together for these one of a kind performances.

"I came in and played a part, read it and felt ok about after having not played for a while, and then decided to join full time after that, so I was just really looking for an opportunity to play and this one came along and it's been awesome ever since," said cornet player Jen Zemke.

Some of the instruments seen in this ensemble are ones you probably won't find in other bands around the country.

In fact, most of the members played different kinds of instruments before joining this group.

The first of their performances will be November 17th at the St. Cecilia Theater at Cotter High School, they have another coming up December 15th.
