Crews stop gas leak on 2nd Street S.W.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Excavation equipment working on the Second Street Southwest reconstruction project ruptured a gas line.

Rochester fire crews were called to 23rd Avenue and Second Street Southwest shortly after 3 p.m. Friday. Firefighters discovered a gas leak and monitored several properties to ensure escaping natural gas didn't accumulate.

The Rochester Fire Department said high winds helped dissipate the leaking natural gas. Traffic was diverted around the area for about 30 minutes while crews worked to stop the leak.

No one was hurt.
